Dr. Zainab Kwaru Muhammad-Idris, president of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), is a distinguished Public Health Specialist with an impressive track record spanning over 15 years. As a seasoned leader and manager, she has demonstrated her expertise across various thematic areas, including health, education, agriculture, and water and sanitation. Currently serving as the Kaduna Programme Manager for the World Bank-funded Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) Project, Dr. Zainab is at the forefront of nutritional advancement in Kaduna State. Her commitment to public health is evident in her role as a Consultant and Public Health Physician. Dr. Zainab's impactful work extends to critical areas such as Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health, as well as Nutrition. She has left an indelible mark on numerous public health and related programs in Nigeria, directly influencing the lives of people at the grassroots. An accomplished professional, Dr. Zainab played a pivotal role in securing a remarkable $2.7 million (approximately N1.1 billion) for the treatment of malnourished children under her stewardship at the Kaduna State Project Implementation Unit of the World Bank-supported Accelerating Nutrition Result in Nigeria project. Her dedication to community well-being is further highlighted by her tenure as the North West Zonal Technical Officer and Coordinator for the UNDP-supported OSSAP MDGs Conditional Grants Scheme to Local Governments project. In this capacity, she successfully led a team of over 25 Technical Assistants, orchestrating impactful initiatives at the local government level to achieve MDG targets.
